Unique Meghnaghat Power Limited (also known as UMPL) is a special purpose vehicle incorporated on September 2018 in Bangladesh and registered with Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms. It is a joint venture establishment of Unique Hotel & Resorts Limited, Strategic Finance Limited, GE Capital Global Energy Investments B.V and Nebras Power Investment Management B.V.
It is developing a 584 MW (net) power generation facility which is under construction in the Meghnaghat region situated in Sonargaon of Narayanganj district of Bangladesh. The Project will operate on natural gas/Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) and will be based on the combined-cycle technology. The Project will comprise GE’s latest H-Class Gas Turbine (GT), GE 9HA.01 model, a Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) and a Steam Turbine (ST).
UMPL has executed Implementation Agreement (IA) with the government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Power Grid Company of Bangladesh; Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and Gas Supply Agreement (GSA) with Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited (TGTDCL) of Government of Bangladesh for 22 years.
UMPL has appointed one of the renowned Contractors General Electric (GE) as Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor. Reputed consultants like Tractebel, Belgium as Owner’s Engineer, AECOM, India as Environmental Consultant and Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) as Financial Adviser have also been appointed.
